The single-purpose problem
A signal-detection tool. A submission-drafting tool. Each one solves one workflow and gets rebuilt, largely from scratch, when the next domain needs the same kind of help.
The opposite bet
Altio's obligation engine, COG, was designed so that encoding a new framework's requirements is additive, not a rewrite. We tested it against the judgment of more than twenty scientists and physicians, starting in safety and now live in clinical study reports, and the architecture that resulted generalizes: the same graph-and-citation mechanism extends toward regulatory and integrated evidence work, because the underlying operation, matching an obligation to the evidence that satisfies it, does not change domain to domain.
Why this matters to you
An extensible core means your organization's investment compounds instead of resetting. The framework we encode for your first use case makes the second one faster to stand up, not a separate project. That is a different kind of platform bet, and it is the one we are making.
